HOLY FAMILY CONVENT, KADAWAL

Rev. Fr. Agnelo D’souza sfx was the parish priest of Holy Spirit Church at Kadawal and Bro. Inacio de Souza was a helper in 1992. Fr. Agnelo D’souza, sfx, felt the need of the sisters for the pastoral work and to have English Primary School. And so he sought permission from Most Rev. Valerian D’souza the Bishop of Pune and the Bishop asked Fr. Agnelo D’souza sfx to ask sisters of Holy Families of Nazareth, Goa as he has found in them self sacrificing spirit, no language problem as well as their simplicity.

Fr. Agnelo D’souza sfx came to meet our Superior General, Rev. Sr. Jane sfn to ask for sisters to open new convent at Kadawal, Sinduhurg district Maharashtra. After pondering over the same our sisters agreed to send some sisters to open the new house and so Srs. Stephanie and Fremiot were coming to see the place and visit the people at Kadawal and would stay on Saturday and go back on Mondays. After a lot of visiting we became very familiar to the people and the place and on 16th June 199   we opened a new house at Kadawal. Rev. Jane, the Superior General along with the Secretary General Sr. Milena accompined Srs. Fremiot as the animator and the members were Srs. Esperance and Flory. As we landed at Kadawal the parish priest and the parishioners gave us warm welcome, which was followed by the Eucharistic celebration

We spent some days at the Parochial house with Fr’s and after 15 days we were given few rooms at Bazaar by Mr. Anthony D’Souza the land lord, popularly known as Kuwaitkar for school and residence, who later also offered a plot for the sisters to build the Convent and for plantation of rice etc. here sisters stayed for 8 months. There was no water when we came and practically we had to go here and there for the water to have bath, etc.

On the very first day when we came in that new house at Bazaar as it was plastered so we went to sleep at the neighbours house and that very night it rained so heavily that all our luggage got soaked in water including all the eatables.

After six months Mr. Anthony asked us to vacate the house and so we had built few rooms for the poultry and stayed there for the time and the time continued more than 6 years. But Mr. Anthony used to help us selflessly to get the things from the market, to supply water, to build the fence and the well, and as there was no power supply some generous families helped us for the same.

Our mission was pastoral work, visiting villages where we would go to call people for mass and spend nights in their houses teaching the children and adult catechism. Some time working with the local people and being one with them in their joys and sorrows.

Till today the mission continues and at present that is 2008 we have Sr. Aida as the animator and the members are Srs.
