Mother Edith, SFN, (1952-1958). On the 21st of April, 1952, Mother Edith of Child Jesus was elected the first Superior General. She carried on the duties entrusted to her care with great love, devotion, hardship and spirit of sacrifice, under the guidance of Fr. Founder.
On 6th May, 1958, Sr. Mary Bertha was elected the second Superior General. She was a person of faith, simplicity and dedication. She took care of the material and spiritual progress of the Congregation. She carried on her mission from 1958-1972, under the able guidance and support of Fr. Founder.
During this period of transition between the old and the re-thinking brought by Vatican II, Mother Bertha took the challenging task in her hand with great determination. She sought the light of the Holy Spirit and through the help of the Theologians and Canonists started the work of renewal as per the MotuProprio, Ecclesia Sanctae and other documents on Religious Consecration which brought in more light and after studying and scrutinizing the old Constitution held the renewal Chapter. The provisional text was brought out in 1972.
On the 22nd of May, 1972, Sr. Mary Gertrude was elected the Superior General. Her deep spirituality and far-sightedness helped the Congregation to grow. It was during her tenure that the Congregation began the apostolate in the mission outside Goa. During her term, the text of the Constitution was reviewed in two sessions in the Renewal Chapter of 1975-76. The final revision was made in 1978 and the text provisionally approved by Archbishop Raul N. Gonsalves. She carried on her responsibility for 12 years.
On the 24th of May, 1984, Sr. Mary Jane, was elected the Superior General. Her enthusiasm, courage, love and imagination enabled her to lead the Congregation to institutional growth. During her tenure, the Extraordianry General Chapter was held and the final text was passed. It was forwarded by the Patriarch Don Raul N. Gonsalves to the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples for scrutiny and definitively approved by the same Ordinary in 1990. Sr. M. Jane carried on her mission for 12 years.
Sr. Maria Pia was elected to guide the Congregation on 26th May, 1996. Her simple style of life, keenness, purity of mind and above all her firm faith in God, enabled her to lead the Congregation to spiritual and institutional growth. By the Grace of God Almighty, the Congregation launched earnestly into various pastoral spheres of social service.
Sr. Milena was elected as Superior General from the year 2002 to 2008. The Councilors were Sr. Maria Angela, Sr. Sabrina, Sr. Joanita and Sr. Alvita, Sr. Bernadine
Sr. Aldawas elected as Superior General on the 11th of May, 2008. She was the Superior General from the year 2008 to 2014 and the Councilors were Sr. Sabrina, Sr. Joanita, Sr. Santana.
Now the present Superior General is Sr. Alvita Gurjao, from 2015. Sr. Sabrina, Sr. Joanita, Sr. Berna and Sr. Libiaare the councilors. She was elected Superior General on the 28th of May, 2014. She is very dynamic, energetic, prayerful, and systematic, responsible and committed in her responsibilities. Houses at Jodhpur are started during her reign.
