“Go and proclaim the Good News and I’ll be with you until the end of time.”

Yes, inspired and moved by the Spirit, the former Superior General Rev. Sr. Maria Pia heard the voice of God calling us through Pune Diocese Bishop Rt. Rev. Valerian and MSFS Frs. Sebastian and Prabhakhar, which was responded by the first, pioneers Srs. Julie Alka and Alzira. They were sent to spread the fragrance of God’s love in the soil of Tamballe in the District of Kolhapur. On the 11th of August 2001, the Sisters said, Here I’m Lord I’ve come to do your will. Having this as a motto they commenced their community life with the assistance of MSFS Fathers.

Initially sisters studied the surroundings and the villagers and their needs. Later they launched out with lot of enthusiasm and vigor to cater the pastoral, catechetical, liturgy and social needs of the people who are uncivilized, marginalized to liberate them from the darkness of superstition, idolatory and cult worship. Those were the prevalent as people living in spiritual blindness. Simultaneously sisters started to educate the poor children in their studies. Sisters would have to travel to 7 substations (villages) to reach out to all the needs, e.g. spiritual, social, hygienic, liturgical etc.

Later, in June 2005, as there was need, sisters were called to working the school and our Superior General gladly sent one more sister to the community. So four sisters formed the community, two for the school and two for the pastoral work.

Now we are proud to say the presence of sisters has made lot of impact in the village of Tamballe. Regular visits of sisters made them to share and settle tiny quarrels, drunkenness’, gossiping, idol worship etc. regular Holy Hours in the village enabled them to come closer to God and to grow in love God and neighbour.   Education on the other hand made them to understand the real worth of learning English (language). Parents are proud that their tiny ones can converse in English.

On the whole, sisters do the following work in particular: conducting BCC, Bible enthronement, MahilaMandal, monthly Adoration, Sacristy work, regular families visits, preparation for Sacraments, school apostolate, catechesis, preparation of liturgy, youth meeting, charismatic prayer meeting, saving scheme etc.

We sisters desire and give ourselves the best for the growth of the villagers. To empowered them to the signs of times and thus evangelize the Kingdom of God.
