Sirsa Convent

On 29th June 1994, Sr. Esperanca, Sr. Clarina, Sr. Hilda and Sr. Jyothi left for Haryana along with Sr. Carmen and Sr. Valentine.

Before leaving, in the evening there was a short prayer for us in the community hall. After sisters’ wishing, we left at about 7.45 p.m. Mother Jane, Mother Nativity, Andrea, Ida, Sisters and some candidates came to reach us at the Vasco railway station. With the help of sisters, candidates (aspirants and postulants) and Fr. Peter sfx. Superior of Bathinda our luggage was hurriedly loaded in the train as we were late. After saying good-bye to all, our train left at 9.15 p.m. Since it was raining in Goa, the weather was cool. We reached Miraj at 7.15 am. At Miraj our sisters were waiting for us at the station. They helped us to carry our luggage, as we had to go to the other platform. They brought breakfast and lunch for us. We left from Miraj at 8 am. They journey was pleasant and cool.

There were two Pilar Fathers in the compartment, Fr. Rock and Fr. Eusebio, who kept on enquiring about us every now and then. God was good to us. We sisters had one compartment with a door. In the next compartment there were three Fathers, Fr. Peter, Fr. Wilfred & Fr. Basil and Bathinda Teachers. They too kept an eye on us specially Fr. Peter. On the way we had our food, which was given to us by our Sancoale and Miraj Sisters. Then as we were nearing to Delhi Fr. Wilfred brought to our notice that we have to do the booking of tickets from Delhi to Bathinda, which we have not done. With Father’s help we bought the tickets. When we reached Delhi-Nizammudin we came to know that we have to go to New Delhi to catch the train. Fathers and Teachers helped us to carry our luggage to the taxi stand. This was new for us, as we did not know about changing the train. By taxi we went to New Delhi railway station at 8 p.m. Fr. Wilfred paid for our taxi fare otherwise we have to go by train. The train was about 8.30 pm. But since we had not done reservation we had to go by another train. As we were waiting for the train at 12.15 am.

On 2 July they told us that we have to change the platform and the train was to leave at 12.30am. By Gods help everything went on well, we got an empty compartment where in we all got to sleep. The train reached to Bathinda station at 7am. We carried our luggage to the rickshaw stand. Then Fr. Wilfred went to the residence and bought the van. We reached Fathers residence at 8 am. Fr. Joseph D’costa, Mother Gertrude’s nephew gave us a warm welcome. Then along with Fr. Peter and Fr. Rock we visited Bethany Sisters. They too gave us a warm welcome and showed us their residence and school.

Then we came back to Fathers residence. All of us were eager to reach to our destination. We left from Bathinda with Fr. Peter to go to Sirsa by their van. We went to DabwaliPilar Fathers house and we came to Sirsa by Dabwali van. We reached at about 12noon and touched the soil at Sirsa at 1 pm. Fr. Diago, Regional Superior and Fr. Christ Rei (Superior of Sirsa) was having lunch. They were surprised to see us as they did not know when we would arrive at Sirsa then Fr. Diego, Fr. Peter and Fr. Christ Rei accompanied us to our residence at 3.30 pm. We thanked Fathers for their hospitality and praised God for His unconditional love towards us. We were really touched by God’s unfailing help and guidance during the whole journey it deepened our faith.
